"Mental Models and Badass Double-Loop Learning"
We all know Agile leaders foster self-organization, so why do many have little effect on their teams, or worse, actually harm their effectiveness?
People act in ways that are rational to them, but differences in internal mental models can make people seem irrational to us. By uncovering your team’s mental models, you can help them achieve a common rationale. This leads to stronger, integrated teams.
Derek W. Wade likes to use Agile to help improve the way people work together. He has been bridging the gaps between ideas and execution, and between individuals and teams, across a broad range of industries for over 14 years.
Derek serves on the Board of Directors for the Agile Leadership Network, and is an Officer of the Chicago APLN.
He holds CSM/CSP certification from the ScrumAlliance, and Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor certificates from the Federal Aviation Administration. These last have more relevance in the Agile world than he expected.
Milwaukee Agile is geared toward both experienced and brand new practitioners. The pizza and beer are free and sponsored by Redpoint Technologies and MillerCoors.
Thank you all -- Todd, Matt, Patti, Jason, David for hosting -- Jim, Art, Sudeep, Rick, Adam, Jason for the engagement and compliments. It was a real privilege to share my thoughts on leadership as learning. By the way, the slides are finally up, with detailed notes (had to fight with SlideShare a bit): http://www.slideshare.net/derekwwade/badll-1-hour-w-notes![]()
